Over Heating
2005 TL automatic
The car was running fine.. no over heating.. I was doing a maintenance check and realized my coolant level was low so I added some to it.. soon after while driving the car starts to heat up...
also the heater will not blow hot air ..
fans are working..
coolant is at a good level.
wondering what the problem could be .. thanks

I drove about 15 miles with no heating than got into a gas station where I noticed the coolant was low while checking oil etc; so the car was at operating temperature if that helps,

When you say the car heated up.. you mean your engine temp spiked to Hot on your gauge cluster?
How many miles do you have on the TL? If your TL is in fact overheating.. don't drive it until you find out what is going on.. Have it towed to Acura and find out what the problem is. It could be the water pump. Look for coolant leaks too.. I have a bad heater control valve which is leaking coolant, it's located on the firewall. If you can't find a coolant leak from any of the lines or pump.. check to see if coolant is flowing through the lines.. that'll let you know if the water pump is indeed working or not.
Keep us updated and don't drive your car if it's overheating!

I am in the process of replacing the Thermostat right now, The gauge does spike up to hot so I am not driving it at all till repaired; I will check to see if the coolant is flowing from the lines after thermostat has been replaced. ( do you recommend any ideas on doing this other than just feeling for pressure on the pipes themselves).

That should eliminate the possibility of any air bubbles...
Also you may want to make sure the rubber hose is still connected inside the reservoir!
Good luck!

Problem Fixed :
Replaced the thermostat, engine is running at good temperature. Pressure Tested the Radiator, Has a minor leak so I will be replacing that soon as well. Thanks for the help everyone..
BTW The location of the thermostat is by the lower radiator hose, engine side connection of course.
