Get a bolt extractor, something like this.

You're going to have to drill a small hole in the broken bolt and then ease it out with the extractor tool through that hole.

thanks. ill give that a try.

i had to remove this whole piece just to shut the door. the door opens and closes fine but just swings back and forth.

when i was playing around in that area, the long part that bolts to the car got pushed in and now it feels like its stuck there. im trying to get it to the longest position so i can reattach it but it wont budge. does this piece look broken?
hard to tell from the pics

Drill the extractor out and get a better one like a craftsman. Are you sure you used the correct size? You can drill the extractor out then drill the whole bolt out. You need to know what the minor diameter of the hole so you don't fuck the threads. Or drill the whole bolt out including the hole threads and just retap and use a new bolt to match. Good luck

Damn 5 min rule. Don't worry about this part, I meant the minor dia. of the bolt but that's just not needed. You can drill the bolt out (go smaller with the bit if your not sure) then follow that with the correct tap and chase the threads. Make sure they are clean and OK.
