I noticed an oil leak on the driveway from the engine on the passanger side so I took it in to the dealers and I was told that it is from the oil pump and the water pump is leaking also, NOW they want to replace both the Oil Pump as well as the Water Pump, the vehicle a 2007 TL was purchased in Aug 2007, so is that the life span of the pumps just 4yrs?
No one at the dealers could conform if the warranty would cover the expense. Any information/knowledge would help.

How many miles?

First, I'd find another dealer if they don’t know whether the car is under warranty unless you have a great many miles piled up and the dealer is stating that they don’t know whether corporate will help with the repairs. The car is covered under a manufacturer's drive train warranty 6 yrs, 70,000 miles, if a CPO 7 yrs, 100,000 miles.
Second, an oil pump is in the front cover and isn’t going to cause an oil leak on the ground, but the crank oil seal or front cover seal may. The water pump can leak, was it ever replaced before, or during the 105k service if you have a great many miles on the vehicles?

Can only go by the dealer’s findings, but I’d clean up the area with brake clean or the like and take a close look to make certain the oil is coming from the front cover and not coming from somewhere else e.g. filter, valve cover, pan plug. As far as the water pump, if it is leaking you’d be seeing the coolant reservoir level dropping, have you checked?

It's a start.

Thx Turbo; The milage on the vehicle is only 54k, would the pumps be covered under the drive train warranty? the water pump was never replaced; the coolant reservoir level hasn't dropped it's OK; I am not very mechanically minded person but will try to locate the valve cover, pan plug, etc.

As these problems are not normal wear items, they should be covered under the 6/70 warranty.

I tried to look for any visible signs of the leak but could not see any under the car, talked to the service department again and they suggested I get in touch with the customer relations, they also mentioned that I should replace the front Compliance Bushing ?

In conclusion, Acura has agreed to replace the two pumps n/c, but did not agree to the Compliance Bushing replacement which will cost me about $320.

When they replace the water pump have them do the timing belt service as it will cost only the part and the compliance bushings probably don't need replacement. Too much reading on the Forum.

Replaced the two pumps, the bushings were torn which were also replaced, and as a courtesy they balanced all 4 wheels and a 4 wheel alignment, I'll take it, visual on the timing belt was fine. Thx Turbo.

After they took off the TB covers, they actually found the water pump and oil pump leaking?

That is a crazy coincidence.

Glad it worked out. At 54k knew the timing belt would be fine, but as it was apart the belt should be replaced to save future costs, but as it wasn't, it will be due to be pulled apart at 105.
