Oil leaking profusely
Hey guys I got a new problem that developed TODAY. I have to check under my car everyday cause my 3rd gear pressure sensor leaks ATF. So today I look under there with the car running and im leaking motor oil @ a good rate. By the time I got to the dealer it had to be close to empty, no light though. Anyways I have a picture of where its leaking in my new droid but am still learning the phone: ill get you the pic ASAP. Feel free to email me if you want to see the pics and try and help me out. The motor oil is leaking right by the passager side tire from a device that resembles and oil filter. I only changed my oil once and I didn't change the filter therefore im not sure if the oil filter is leaking. Sorry I didn't search for problems iv been in panic mode lately with! ATF and motor oil leaking. The area where its leaking is right in the wheel well. Email@ rkan@live.com for pics. Thanks guys gotta 2010 loaner in the mean time: iv had the car since feb or 4000+ miles.

There was some on the dipstick when I left my house and the dealer is very close to my home. Stick fucked up though, I had to drive it to get oil or goto the dealer. Its the only car I got today. I don't think I dido engine damage bc the oil light didn't come on.

Might be coming from the VTEC solenoid valve....it's right above the oil filter.

Yeah, might I suggest you pick up a service manual and take a peak at it once in a while! lol sorry couldn't resist.
It's gotta be a puncture on the filter. I've always hated the location of it being it's very exposed to shit flying up off the road/tire. It's all dry around it, including the VTEC solenoid which you can kinda see in his pic so my money would be a friggin $4 oil filter is the cause of your problem.
But please, in the future, don't ever drive your car with that bad of leak of any fluid. EVER.

II figured it was the oil filter. I have had a loaner since 11am: I don't have my car now to inspect. I was running late for work and had no time to think let alone read a service Manuel. Thanks to my droid I am getting things accomplished or else this thread wouldn't have been created till tonight. Thanks for the help though. Now I know why I hate cars actually hate cars....does he hate cars? I know im starting too...my accord has been acting up lately too.
How was I supposed to go to work today bro. I clear stated the oil light was not on and there oil on the dipstick. I think that safe enough to run to a gas station or your local dealership which is very close. Try reading the whole thread.

Do you remember hitting a major pothole or running over road debris?

Yeah they were swamped today, one of there service advisors called off and the service manger quit so the service dept was in shambles today. I got a loaner 2010 TSX so im happy for now. The advisor there wasn't very happy to see me back in there: he did a face palm as I walked up to him and he had a horrible attitude.

Sure it's the worst case scenario but it's something you should keep in mind.
Looks like it might be dripping from the Front Main Seal and flinging it back.

I fully understand how engines work and sometimes you don't think when you should, but I wont change a thing about how I handled the situation, it was the only choice I had and I still checked the oil before I left. My old 04 TSX drank a quart of oil every 1000 miles so im used to these situations. Acura called me old TSX normal too.......yeah right.....that was far from the truth. Part of the reason I no longer drive a TSX ....prob never will again. @ least I found the problem when I did and didn't just drive it and then get a random oil light@ some point today. Im so anal about maintenance its drives me though a wall, sometimes I can't wait to buy something for my car as far preventive maintence.
My 2 cents

Exactly what filter is that?
Way back in the old days (2004 - 2005) there were some reports of the lower arm hitting the filter and cracking it. Honda/Acura about that time changed the filter spec to the 15400-PLM-A02, which is in fact slightly shorter than the previous filter (15400-PLM-A01).

The dealer called and the diagnosis is a rusted oil filter. That crazy, I never had one rust out...ever. I did hit a pothole the day before the leakage, which might have caused the breach. Im glad it was something stupid and ill prob never skip an oil filter again after this situation. They are also fixing my 3rd and 4th gear granny sensor crush washers today too. TOTAL COST for everything- 7.99 + tax: WOW as much as I originally hated my dealer they are starting to grow on me little by little. They did charge me 180 for the last visit though.

I have gotten blocks that have sat on the ground in farm fields since the 1980s that don't have rusted oil filters. That thing has gotta be old. Change that oil and filter ASAP and then again pretty soon after for good measure.

Yeah kinda weird, the dealership said they have seen it before. The filter is in a bad spot. First thing to do when you buy and new car.....change all the fluid and filters....that the moral of the story. On a side note the dealer fixed my leaky transmission sensors with crush washers. They basically gave me a free oil change and labor today!!!! Anyone else had this cheap of a bill or are they being nice cause they charged me 180 for ATF and a flush before then 8 for this small job. ????

In looking at the filter, it looks like rust is on the top edge of it. With the oil only on the bottom, makes a lot of sense but very strange. Where has the car been to get water way up there and how long has it been since the filter was changed? Like jda said, I have never seen a filter that looked that bad. The entire under carriage looks like it saw a swamp or something.

II dunno, I just got the car 2 months ago. I never thought a filter would rust like that. The car was a 1 owner car and maintained@ the local dealer with regularity. Maybe the guy took his car to get oil changes and they just never changed the filter.

Doesn't Honda/Acura change the filter every other oil change? If that's the case the filter could of been on there for a year or more depending how much the previous owner drove.
I had a look at the filter of my TL when I was under the car changing the fog bulbs, noticed the filter looked exactly like yours (very dusty/dirty). I'm contemplating changing the oil now instead of waiting, I'm already down to 80% on the MM.

"The previous owner didn't change the oil" is another theory.

Did you look under the cap when purchasing the car? When you have a chance take a flash light and open the cap and look inside see if you see sludge.
This is what I did when purchasing my TL, it isn't as clean as my RDX which has similar mileage but looks spotless on the inside, but I'm sure a few runs of PP and a proper oil filter (Bosch Premium is what I use) and it should be clean in no time
