Oil Burn-off on 2007 Type-S

So i was washing my car today and decided to check the oil level in my TL, since the oil life thingy was reading 10percent, and when i checked it i was astonished to see that there was barely any oil on the dipstick, so i quickly got another liter of the stuff that i was using which was Castrol Syntec 5w20. Anybody else experience this? This is my first Honda car and i know that all my friends who have or had honda cars experienced this but i had VW's before with the VR6 motors and never experienced this. Is this normal for these motors to burn some oil. I do drive the car quite hard but i still wouldnt expect this from a car which only has 24,xxx miles on it.
Perhaps someone has some sort of input on which oil they prefer and that doesnt burn off that easily. I was also on planning on switching to Mobil 1 after this oil change, any thoughts?

99% of TL's I have seen do not burn any oil. Try smelling your dipstick and see if it smells like gas, if it does then you have a condition called blow by, which means the rings on the pistons have failed and is allowing oil up into the combustion chamber and gas down into the oil.

Yeah, your car shouldn't be burning that much oil. I'd check it again at a gas station or somewhere else that you're 100% sure the ground is completely level. Also, try a different oil next change. Mobile 1 full synthetic will work. My personal preference is Amsoil but it's a little more pricey and not as easy to come by.

I'd check it at 1,000 mile intervals next change and see if it's still burning oil. If it is, you should probably do a leak down test or definitely take a trip to the dealer while it's still under warranty.

I figure ill do an oil change and then ill carefully monitor the condition and level of the oil. I hope that its going to be alright, considering the car runs great and has great power. But ill be sure to smell my dipstick. Is the smell of gas in the oil going to be very noticeable?

had you recently driven the car some of the oil might still be in the heads and havent drained down yet, or you may have had the vehicle unlevel

^^^^what he asked, plus who did you last oil change? Are you sure the proper amount of oil was added?

What's the history of the car? Did you buy it new?

I've never had to oil between changes (7500 miles between changes, 80K miles total).

I have a 06 6sp, My tl has been using a little oil since new,I use mobil 1 5w20. Ihave 37000 miles.I have 2800miles on this oil change and I have used about a half a qt. I change my oil every 3000miles.I went to the dealer and was told honda does not consider it a problem unless your using more than 1 qt every 1000miles!I think thats nuts! But I heard vw 2.0 turbo use a qt every 1000 miles and they consider that normal! maybe we should start a oil consumption pole.
