OEM Window visors and oxidation

If this helps someone, it will serve its purpose. Over the last five or so months, my OEM window visors started oxidizing (I know this is a very common problem). After reading through many threads on AZine, people seemed to have success with a few products, namely these:

Unfortunately, the oxidation on my visors was so bad that these products didn't work. Actually, they made the problem worse. I was going through my products in the garage and forgot about one that I use when I do my annual buffing:

Below, you can see the oxidation. This stuff wouldn't come off for anything. After 5 or so minutes of just hand-buffing (no need for orbital), here was the outcome:

If anyone has been unsuccessful with other products, you may want to try this stuff. It is a bit more expensive (read professional grade), but it worked...at least for me. I simply applied it with an old sock (preferably clean!) and wiped it off with the same sock (dry part). I used one sock for each side of the vehicle. It took about 20 minutes total. I would recommend doing it before you wash your car (rinse visors before you start so you can eliminate any loose dirt/particles as to avoid scratching), as it will cause wax-like dust particles. I hope this helps someone.

I have had mine on for 4 years now and I have kept them fresh just with a layer of any good cleaner wax BUT it has to be done regularly .

OP I think a lot of your oxidization was in fact water spotting by the pattern on the undone portion and the water spots on your window.

The first 3 products aren't effective on water spotting but any good polish is as its abrasive.

Now that you have gotten them looking good apply the PlastX then a good sealant.

Thanks for sharing, man...since new, I've made sure to add some sort of polymer protection, same I put on the paint. Hoping it never ends up looking chalky like that.
