Noisy when breaking

When I'm traveling more than 40 mph and hit the breaks it's loud inside the car. The pads are good since I just checked them over the weekend. It sounds like a knocking noise coming from the wheels but not sure what it can be. Rotors????

Are you slamming on the brakes? If so, it may just be your ABS kicking in.

No, I'm not slamming on my breaks. When I'm slowing down it starts making a pretty loud thumping noise. So at first I thought that it might be the pads but when I checked them there is about 80% of pad left, so now I'm trying to see if anyone else ever had this problem.
