Noise with acceleration!!
I'm having a noise that occurs only at low speeds while accelerating. It sounds kind of like a brake wear indicator but much less loud then that. Is easy to hear with window rolled down. Disappears beyond about 20 miles an hour or so. Does not occur with brakes applied, irregardless of speed.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Does this noise appear to come from the lefthand side of the engine compartment? Does the car sound louder?
I'm trying to figure out something that sounds like the lifters ticking under moderate acceleration this is also coupled with a louder sounding exhaust or intake sound...cracked exhaust?

Can't tell for sure the origin. The problem is I hear it best when driving next to a wall or house such that I'm actually hearing the echo of the noise rather then the noise itself. Difficult to tell where from the car it's coming from.

I have your fix. Dont accelerate. Let the car idle when you drive. This will keep the noise from occuring.
