No start intermittently

I have A 2006 tl base that won't start intermittently.Battery is good, cables are new and have a new starter.I'll go to start the car after its been sitting for less than an hour sometimes and it wont start. All the lights come on dash but no other noises.sometimes it will start after a few tries.Today i gave up after 6 or 7 tries and hopped in my truck...came back 40 mins later and she fired right up.I think i did see the green key on the dash flashing as I was trying to start it.Should I be looking at the ignition switch?

Or you may have to reprogram your key. It may not be recognizing it and engages the immobilizer.

not immobilizer's problem. if it's the key's problem, the starter should still crank.

Good to know. I haven't had to deal with the immobilizer yet, so I didn't know that it would still crank.

If you hear no noises, I would check for voltage at the starter solenoid. If it's there and cycles on with the key in the start position, you need a starter. If it's not there, you might need a new ignition switch.

Did you try jiggling the key while holding it in the start position?

Did you put in a brand new or a remanufactured starter? It is not uncommon for a remanufactured starter to go bad in weeks/days of installing it, or even dead out the box so don't rule it out.

its a reman' starter.almost didnt get it started today outside of a store.Took me 5 mins of trying before it started.Putting it in neutral did nothing either.Think I'll have to bring it to a shop.Thankfully I have a 12 yr old dodge truck that always starts in the meantime...lol

make sure your battery cables are clean and secured tight to battery posts. I got a new battery and the neg cable wasn't making clean contact with post.
