I got an '04 TL with no AC. I brought the car to my mechanic who checked the fuses and said they were okay. He replaced a switch that turns on the compressor but still no luck. No power is getting to the compressor. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Wiring? Sometimes mice chew on wires. Also, what was the testing procedure used to determine that no power was getting to the compressor?

 

Get a wiring diagram and start tracing the wires.

Is there source voltage at the compressor?
Is it getting ground?

It's probably an open somewhere or high resistance. Most likely an open.

 

guys I really can't answer your questions. my mechanic was the one who worked on it. how can i check for an open or do an accurate test procedure?

 

Did he check the refrigerant charge? If the system has leaked then the compressor won't be enabled so you won't see any voltage at the compressor clutch. It's to keep you from damaging your compressor in the event you lose too much refrigerant.
