No heat from A/C on driver"s side

On auto or dual mode, the passenger side heat works normally, but nothing but cold air on the driver's side. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a specific fuse to check?

I just noticed I have the similar issue with my 2006 RL. But the air from middle vent of driver side feels a little warmer than the air from the vent by the driver door. I am not sure if it is due to it's close to the middle vent on passenger side which has hot air out of it. I feel the same on the rear left vent.

I saw on Honda forum someone said flushing the pipe solved problem and others talked about the heater core etc.

I am wondering if I can try something myself before send it to dealer.

Try a self diagnostic test to see if any DTC appear.

Turn ignition on
Press and hold the OFF button. While holding the OFF button, press the circulation button 5 times within 10 seconds. Release the OFF button and the self-diagnostic will begin.

If there are any problems in the system, the temperature indicator will light up the segment of (A through S) corresponding to the error. The temperature indicator will then alternate every second between displaying "88" (all segments lit) and error code (A through S). To determine the meaning of the code you'll need to view the DTC troubleshooting index.

If there is no problem detected, the segments will not illuminate.

Turn off the ignition switch to cancel the test.

Each part of the "88" indicates, or translates to a specific letter, e.g. top of the first 8 on the driver's side is a C, top of second is a D, look at the passenger side display, once again if the top is lit, that equates to a L, etc.

Don't have a scanner so can't load the detection code values, but just as an example, if the top of the first 8 is lit, that would translate to a C:

C-An open in the outside air temperature sensor circuit.

At least you can see if there are any codes to indicate a problem within the system.

^Turbo nut is correct;

Checking DTCs by DTC Indicator

NOTE: Before troubleshooting the climate control system, refer to B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting.
To retrieve the DTC, you must run the self-diagnostic function. In the case of multiple problems, the respective indicator segments will come on. If indicator segments A, C, E, G, I, L, O and Q come on at the same time, there may be an open in the common ground wire.

DTC (Temperature Indicator Segment)
Detection Item
A
An open in the in-car temperature sensor circuit
B
A short in the in-car temperature sensor circuit
C
An open in the outside air temperature sensor circuit
D
A short in the outside air temperature sensor circuit
E
An open in the sunlight sensor circuit
F
A short in the sunlight sensor circuit
G
An open in the evaporator temperature sensor circuit
H
A short in the evaporator temperature sensor circuit
I
An open in the driver's air mix control motor circuit
J
A short in the driver's air mix control motor circuit
K
A problem in the driver's air mix control linkage, door, or motor
L
An open in the passenger's air mix control motor circuit
M
A short in the passenger's air mix control motor circuit
N
A problem in the passenger's air mix control linkage, door, or motor
O
An open or short in the driver's mode control motor circuit
P
A problem in the driver's mode control linkage, doors, or motor
Q
An open or short in the passenger's mode control motor circuit
R
A problem in the passenger's mode control linkage, doors, or motor
S
A problem in the blower motor circuit

I had no heat in both.
It was blend doors stuck.
Too much effort / cost to replace in dash or glove box technique.
I sold it !

Hi Turbonut and Project_Clean, thanks for providing instruction.
When running the self diagnostic test, am I suppose to see anything dis play on the sreen to show me the progress?
I did not see anything happen after "Press and hold the OFF button. While holding the OFF button, press the recirculation button (under OFF button) 5 times within 10 seconds. Release the OFF button" on temperature control bar.

Anything did I do wrong?

If procedure is done properly:
If there is no problem detected, the segments will not illuminate.

There is also a self diagnostic check to scan all the sensor values. Guess I had better hook up a scanner, or maybe Project_CLean will come to the rescue again.

Just gonna go over this again:
when you're in the car; ignition should be ON(power to everything except motor) Press and hold OFF and while you are holding press the RECIRC. buttom 5 times within 10 secs.

As for sensor input;you need to do turn ignition switch off. Hold the AUTO and RECIRC buttoms and start the engine. Once the engine starts; let go of the buttoms. The display should flash the sensor number and the value:

Sensor
Item
Displayed Value
1
In-car Temperature Sensor
ºC
2
Outside Air Temperature Sensor
ºC
3
Solar Radiation Sensor Value: Dark = 00, Flashlight = 04, Cloudy =10, Sunny = 65
kcal/m2•h
4
Engine coolant Temperature
ºC
5
Evaporator Outlet Air Temperature
ºC
6
Driver's Air Mix Opening (Low value indicates cooler air distribution, higher value indicates warmer air distribution)
% of opening
7
Passenger's Air Mix Opening (Low value indicates cooler air distribution, higher value indicates warmer air distribution)
% of opening
8
Vehicle Speed (Vehicle must be driven to display speed)
km/h
9
Vent Temperature Air Out (TAO)
ºC

NOTE:
  • [*]
<LI class=S1>To cancel the sensor input display mode, press the AUTO button, or turn the ignition off.

Hi Project_Clean, Turbonut,

I tried both procedures many times during the weekend but I did not get any result from either self-diagnostic function or sensor input (Display did not flash the sensor number and the value).

Looks like my display will/does not show any diagnostic result. Is there somethinf control the display of diagnostic result? Thanks.
