New guy here

I own an 04 TL and I love it.. Been having some problems as of late... What i hear sounds like the trans whining but it might be the rear end. Also the nav screen flickers sometimes, and when sitting idle the exhaust sounds like it has a leak or a hole in the muffler. R these probs normal? Thanks for the help in advance. Also trip odometer not reading A and B separate. Its reading both miles the same.

Our cars don't have a "rear end" since they're front drive. You probably meant to say, "final drive" which would be the closest equivalent to a rear end in a rear drive car.

Can't speak for the Nav screen flickering - perhaps a failing DVD unit in the trunk?? As for the exhaust, definitely do a thorough checkout of that. You don't want a leak there.

The tripometer can be reset individually or in tandem. Sounds like they were set in tandem the last time.

You didn't mention which transmission you have but I am going to assume its an automatic. Pay close attention to any strange noises with this tranny. If you don't have any maintenance records, you might want to do the 3x3 drain and refill to see if that helps. I also have an '04 (late build), but it's a manual. Still it has none of these problems you've outlined. I also have an '05 automatic and it too is fine (both of these cars are also Nav).

If you DO find an exhaust leak, there's some putty that's available at parts stores that works pretty good for patching small holes and cracks, thus it's for the poor man
