New Drivers Key

I'm pretty much presuming the obvious, but just to clarify I'll gather a 2nd opinion. I had to get a 2nd Key Fob / Drivers Key for my 04' TL yesterday, so they did this during a lunch break.

After they "programmed" the new key set, I was on my way as usual. The kicker was, last evening I put in the new key for the first time, and although the fob works, the key just turns over the engine as if there is a kill switch on. So my theory here is that if the key isn't cut JUST right, it won't start.

Am I correct here?

When you say they "programmed" the new key set, do you mean they linked the fob to the car? If that's all they did, then the keyfob will operate correctly, but the key will not start because the immobilizer chip in the key has to be programmed to the car, and the dealer charges a bunch for this.

Sounds like they didn't do the job or they didn't do it right. Where did you get this programming done?

Figures, I had a hunch there was more to it. I purchased this car in May 05 (Love it of course) and finally they pull through on there word now regarding my 2nd key + fob that wasn' t provided upon purchase.

If there was something more involved with the key other than just programming the fob, then it's now apparent that it wasn't done considering it just turns the engine over.

I appreciate the input, will have to pay Acura another visit since it was performed at the dealer here. No complaints though, just a mishap hopefully.
