New Brakes!

Hey guys,
I need new brake pads and rotors for my TL. its a 6sp so it has the Brembos, does any one know where i can get a good deal on these around No.VA? The dealer was gonna charge me $900!! I just need the two front done. I only heard squeeking for like a week or two and i thought it wouldn't be too bad where i just had to replace the pads but they said that my rotors were done also =( also does anyone know a place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for install? help please!

Was this the dealer telling you that you also needed rotors? I would get a second opinion before you do anything. My experience with dealers is that they are like quick lubes... tell you something should be replaced when its not really needed so soon.

How many miles on the brakes, how do you drive etc.
Another member spent $600 recently at the dealer for parts only-front rotrs/pads
Try an independant shop- preferably Acura/Import car specialist
for 2nd opine and far cheaper labor rates

There is developement work on aftermarket Racing Brake brand rotors from MrHeelToe
but have not seen the release of new items post yet

Check also Excellerate another acurazine vendor- both listed in Off Topic Sponsored Sales

I'd just do it yourself... If you can change the oil and put on a spare tire, you can change the brakes. If you can change the brakes, you can change the rotors.

Just did it!

I had the same issue! 6 MT, and no way was I paying the dealer their price. I purchase rotors and pads on line, and had them shipped to my instaler (Independent) I found through the Tire Rack and ordered Hawk performance ceramic pads I got from the tire Rack, at I think like 130.00ish. The Rotors Tire Rack did not have. I search a long time for the rotors, and found them at autopartswarehouse.com, and order these: Parts Ordered
Acura 2005 Brake Disc Priceat $165.95 Qty: 2 Part #: N1000-135225, with no tax and free shipping! The local shop I used charged me like 75-80.00. I was VERY happy with the savings, and the work they did!

see if you can convince them that this TSB applies...maybe you can get it for free =)

I am goiing to give it a shot tommorrow, but I had already complained about squeaky breaks long ago during my 15k service which at the time the TSB was limited to certain VIN's. Now it looks like they say it applies to ALL 6MT...
