Need New Wheel Bearings

Hi all,

I appreciate the look here, my other ride is an S2000 so I do most of my posting on S2KI, but always liked this community.

I have an 07 TL-S with A-spec 18” wheels on it. I have a “warble” sound from the front end, starts kind of rhythmic at low speed but above 50 mph it’s constant “moan”.

I’ve heard this sound come from tires that were “hammered” (still good on tread but worn out from the inside). I drive the car pretty hard and I’m wondering if the wheel bearing are gone.

Car has 75K miles, tires are Dunlop SP Sports and are at 75% tread, tires were just rotated and car was just aligned.

Thanks for the help

I watched my neighbor change out a wheel bearing in an expedition.
he had the wheel off and let me listen to what a bad bearing sounded like.

Sounded like a grinding noise. I Immediately went to check mine. Very smooth and no noise.

Try wiggling the wheel while jacked up....any motion could be an indication of bearing going bad

I doubt it's wheel bearings. Very rare on these cars. I'd suspect abnormal tire wear due to out of spec toe. Have your alignment checked.

Allignment was checked and was slightly out, he said one tire had a bit of a feather edge on it but i've put enough milage on it that it shouldn't be an issue.

If the tire is feathered, that's enough to cause the noise. Did you rotate the tires to see if the noise moves or goes away?

I did and it got quieter but has not gone away. Car has around 600 miles since the rotation.

I had the same noise on my rear left side and i thought it was the bearing but before replacing it i tried other things, like rotating tires and such but nothing helped. As soon as i replaced the wheel bearing, the noise went away.
