Hey guys new to acurazine just made an account and i need help with my 2005 acura TL..my REAR passanger power lock dosent work so I bought the replacement actuator to replace it found some tutorials/videos on how to replace the front actuator but non to replace the rear, it seemed very similar I did iton my own and got everything of fine with no problems. everything was great but the big white plactic part where the actuator is wouldn't come out so I looked in and seen this rod that's attached to it and it looks like it's coming from the outside door handle, looks to be what opens the door (latch) and that was the only thing stopping me from doing the repair it wouldn't come out because it was connected to it and have no clue on how to remove it PLEASE HELP anything would be great thanks!
Turn the brown clip clockwise and the rod will back out/release, allowing the lock actuator to be remove.
Also you should remove the window channel by pulling the weather strip out from the window channel, then unbolt the 10mm bolt that's also around the bottom of the metal channel on the exterior of the door frame. Once bolt is out pull the channel (not the black weather strip) down wards and that will disconnect for access/clearance to the actuator. Weather strip and channel are two separate pieces.
When you go to install the removed channel make sure the top slides inside the door's metal weather strip channel.
Thanks bro it worked helperfectly out a ton! But when I put it back together 2 things happened, first the door won't open from the inside now -_- so I went to check it again then the green clip that holds the door latch cable to the inside of the door broke/: now I have to replace that.... I didn't understand about removing the window thing to access the actuator easier so it was a pain in the ass to put it back in... any more tips? Thanks a ton BTW !
Sorry, I gave you instructions for the front door's run channel. Lol
Inner Door Handle
Check the child door safety lock? Maybe you accidentally triped it? Check the inner door handle release cable? Maybe the clip broke or unhooked?
Removing the rear most glass run channel is kinda tricky if you've never done one but try this.
1. Move the glass until you see the two glass mounting bolts and then remove them... 10mm x 2. There are two access holes in the lower center part of the door.
Once the bolts are off, lower the glass all the way to the bottom of the door by hand.
2. Pull the rear upper corner inner run channel weather strip out partially as need (clearance for the metal run channel to move away from the stationary vent glass at the top corner)
3. Thrre are 1 T15 (torx) and 2 bolts holding the rear metal run channel in place. T 15 at top and bolts near the bottom, all access from exterior of door.
Partially remove the outter door weather strip above the top of the metal run channel to remove the T15 torx and remove the other 2 bolts near 3/4 and at bottom of metal run channel. Now the channel is free. Tilt/move the upper part of the channel away from the vent glass and then remove the whole metal channel from the door by pull it up/out through the door slot (where the window runs up/down). Be sure to tilt the channel inwards when removing to clear the window frame.
Now you should have full access to the lock regulator. If the glass is in the way you can take it out of the door. If need you can also remove the vent glass by pulling it inwards away from the door frame.
I forgot that the white child lock fell off and I couldn't find out how to put it back on but Ithe was still working after it came off so I decided to leave it off then when I opened big whit box where the actuator is located 2 other white plastic parts fell out... I'm guessing it was parts of the child lock that's when it seemed to stop working I haven't opened it up again yet but will soon and I'll post pics of the plastic parts that fell off
