Need help! Possibly missing 'cover' around the wheel compartment

Hi guys,

I was trying to install the mud flaps I got for my 08' Acura TL type-s. I noticed that the piece that covers around the rear wheel compartment is missing, I'm not sure. Technically, I don't know what they are called so I included the photos to show. The rear mud flaps don't fit properly as half of it is kinda sticking out in that empty space as shown in the photos below.

Any ideas would be appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

the shot from the side of the car

beneath the car, between the wheel and muffler.

the mud flap is just sticking out as it fits into the fender.

When facing the back of the car, the second and third photos were taken from beneath the car on the left rear wheel, on space between the left tire and muffler.

Might be needed to rip this off if you want some positive camber!

i always rip my front fender liner off.
happened twice...
its from my wheels rubbing and hitting the plastic fender liner and destroying clips

Never the rear tho.
I can only assume that some one ripped it/cut it intentionally.

Snow/ice stuck might do that too I imagine. Can't say how mine looks (I don't look there too often) but I assume it's not ripped.
