Need Help ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i was driving home today from the mall...smooth ride no potholes or anything ...was goin about 80 -50 mph ... so i got on the Belt Parkway and i hit dead stop traffic and when it finally stated to move my car didnt.... it felt like my car was in neutral cause i was pressing the gas and the engine revved but didnt move at all .. i put the car in park and shifted back to drive and it kicked in really hard after a few seconds and started to move again .... Has this happen to any of u and should i be worried cause no engine light came on or anything. Car drives normal like it did before ..

judging by your avatar, you have a TL-S. It not engaging could be due to a torque converter issue. How many miles do you have on your car? Have you changed the fluid at all?

I'm thinking that the fluid was hot while you were driving and sitting in traffic, it got hotter. With such hot fluid right near the Torque converter, it slipped. But when you put it in park and then back in drive, the engagement of other stuff moved cooler thicker fluid and allowed it to engage.

Car that suddenly becomes unmovable with no warning in the middle of traffic? That's effectively in the Yugo category as a daily driver in my book. I can't afford to be missing work or school because my POS Honda transmission isn't working. I imagine it's the same for this kid. Hence, ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To OP, put your year/model/other info in your signature line so people know what car you have and what mods you've done. It makes it a LOT easier for people to help you troubleshoot on stuff like this. It sounds similar to the earlier Honda trans problems but I was under the impression that they had pretty much cleared up by late third gen.

Just a note, the car will not shut off if the battery is disconnected while driving. Some electronics wont work, but engine will run and drive. I say from experience

It is possible. i would change the transmission fluid and see. Just do a single 1x3 drain and refill with some quality fluid (not Honda fluid).

Tranny or computer?

Iv been having a problem with my tl and it's time to fix it, at first I tought it was my flex pipe over heating so I removed the torn up mesh cylinder on the outside of it and that didn't work because today on my way to work it happened agian for the third time , while driving I have no problem but when I came to a stop this morning and the light turned back green the car wouldn't move it felt like the car was in nutral . I pressed and pressed the gas but the car wouldn't move just reved and finally after about 2 mins in the middle of a highway it started to move like normAl ,I was close to work so I drove about 10 blocks and then pulled over to check it out . All of the lights on my dash was on - VSA, seatbelt engine light even came on and where it usally shows What gear the car is In, that D was blinking ...could this be the computer or the tranny cause my bro told me his m3 had the same problem and it was the computer that's why I'm guessing computer but in the other cause these are tranny failure problems . How can u tell if ur tranny is done?

yeah, please give time for members to actually wake up and respond.

Blinking D is not good.
if it threw codes, have them read free at an auto parts store.

blinking d is usually indicative of a failed tranny

Def sounds like a tranny failure at this point. I would suggest having the codes read, when was the last time you drained and refilled your tranny fluid?

Once your trans throws that code your trans is done, it wont magicly fix itself over night. How many miles do you have? I would look into a used trans with low miles if you dont have the money to get reman.

Did you check the fluid level before you did the drain and fill?

The code is only comparing input vs output speeds so it doesn't matter if its slipping from a low fluid level or it the clutches are worn out. Its possible the fluid boiled which will give the same symptoms as being low. A good synthetic will have a much higher boiling point. I would try Redline racing and see if it does this again. If not, I would try and find the source of the heat. Did it puke out of the breather at all?

Are you still under powertrain warranty? Did you buy the car new or CPO. I'm having the same issue and a rebuilt is around 2800 18mo and 3900 new 3yr warranty new. Hopefully I'll be covered this upcoming tuesday, my main seal is gone and leaking transfluid like a barrel full of monkeys.

IM not sure what a breather is but it didnt puke anything. I Used honda fluid this time. When i took it to the shop they checked the oil and it smelt burnt and was realy black .. Could these problems be cause because of loose battery cables ?Because my battery cables were really really loose.
