So I decided to go to Bear Mountain and take the bike for a ride... I get all set to go and try to shut the trunk and I couldn't do it. It seems as though the trunk "catch" will not move to allow it to "latch."
I'm sorry that the exact word for the mechanisms escape me now. If anybody has any suggestions please help me out I don't want to be stuck with a trunk that won't close, especially right before the bad weather hits here in the northeast.

No idea about how to fix, that is until I searched and got some results =)
Do you see a spring anywhere?
Worst comes to worst you'll have to replace the trunk lock.
I'd remove the liner and check on it =)

Here are the pictures of what happened. Hopefully if anybody else runs into this problem it can be easily remedied.
I tried the interior trunk release, the trunk release on the key and I tried to pop the trunk from inside the car. I tried all of these things on their own and while testing each way to release the latch.
First I'll note that I already had the trunk liner removed. I don't think that this is necessary but what is necessary is to remove the plastic shield that protects the trunk latch area (as you will see in the pictures)
Here is how the latch was stuck:

From inside the trunk:

I could move the end that holds the spring between the previous location and what you see here:

I was unable to move it in the opposite direction. I tried to pull the latch down with my car key and then I tried a wine key that was in my car and nothing would open the latch:

What finally worked in the end was to push the trunk button on the key while pushing the spring end in this direction.

... and then... everything when back to normal

Once again, thank you to those on acurazine that provided some insight on what to do. It gave me that little piece of mind while I was getting all pissed off at the situation.

05 TSX trunk won't latch.
Hi,
The trunk lid on my TSX won't latch. The latch is in the open position, but had no resistance when moving it with a screwdriver.
I found a black spring in the trunk and re-installed it on the latch. I closed the trunk, and it latched.
Then, I opened it by pressing the electronic trunk release above the license plate. It opened, but again, wouldn't latch closed.
Upon further inspection, I noticed that the black rotating arm that releases the latch, which can rotated by both the cable (connected to inside drivers side lever) and the electronic actuator, wasn't returning to its original position.
So, I re-positioned it manually (feeling some resistance from the electronic actuator), closed the trunk and it latched fine. Then, I opened it using the cable lever inside the drivers door. Using this sequence, everthing works just fine.
But, anytime I use an electronic release ( key fob or trunk-mounted button),
the black rotating piece hangs up, making me think that the actuator is binding inside.
Any insight as to why using electronic release causes the latch to bind?
Am I looking at buying a new trunk latch assembly.
Thanks
MB

I have a 2003 CLS-6 . My problem started with the trunk light working intermittently. Upon investigating that I read (on here somewhere) that it could be a latch problem. I then looked at the latch and saw something dangling. It was the spring, I barely pulled on it with some needlenose and out it fell. I think it must of been loose on one side. Anyway to get in there I had to remove the trunkliner and then the plastic cover over the latch. The pics here are similar to mine and I would not of been able to get to the latch without removing liner. Anyway reinstalled the spring and so far so good, works with fob and with interior trunk release button. Thanks for posting pics and procedures.

Thank you so much! Your instructions and pictures worked perfectly! The only thing different is I also tightened the bolts the the bottom connecting piece
