Is my transmission going bad?

i have an 05 TL AT. just few days ago, when i put my car into reverse, release the brake. i can hear lound whistling/whining noise, It SOUNDS like it's coming from the front passenger wheel or something. Not sure if it is though. but once i shift to drive. the noise will gone. and when i drive the car for a while, the car will not making the noise. can anyone tell me what is wrong with my car. sorry for the english.

Why do you jump to the conclusion that it is the tranny?

Could be the brakes dragging for a bit. Or something driven by the belt was making noise (power steering pump, alternator, etc...)

To me sounds more like the "evil" PS o-ring area. Search for the PS O-ring fix. Im guessing your car has 100K (give or take 15K)

Yep I believe you have the O-Ring problem, look it up on the forum. There's a DIY for it. I changed it early November last year and it fixed the problem right away. Give it a try, it's only about 5 bucks max for the O-Ring.

It shouldn't. The cure is well known and cheap.

I totally understand but if it makes you feel any better, every failure has been on factory fluid. Not a single incident reported on here on the Type F fluid and new switches.

So the noises went away after you changed out the mount? Did you just do one or all of them?
