Hello. After months of waiting I finally have got may car that I dreamed of for some time. The 3rd gen TL-S






I start this thread to get some help from you as there are few things that bother me.
As I am perfectionist, I always want to have everything working in the right way.

Issues:
1. Leaking power steering hose – DONE
Hose fixed - thanks to AcuraZine and You Tube J

2. Noisy power steering pump - DONE
Pump renewed, power steering oil tank, tube & clamps changed.

3. Leaking oil – DONE
VTEC gasket changed.

4. Rear fog light – almost done
Trying different localization – now in back lights.

5. Rear lower arms – DONE
Changed.

6. Wasted tires – DONE
New one bought.

7. Engine side mounting and trany mounting – TO DO

8. Delay in changing gears – TO DO
I have read some threads. Almost all tracks to tranny oil and switches change. But they usually say about shifting between second & third and third & fourth gear while in my TL the delay exists while shifting any gear. It is slightly shorter in manual mode. I have dug through internet and I have found interesting thought that the delay may result from foulty injectors, fuel pressure. Any thoughts?

9. Both mirrors heating does not work. Switch works – TO DO

10. Driver’s seat heating. Seat cushion does not work while seat-back works. Switch works – TO DO

11. Passenger’s seat heating. Both seat cushion and seat-back does not work. Switch works – TO DO

12. Passenger’s seat side airbag. Both seat cushion and seat-back does not work – TO DO

13. Hi fuel consumption. 14MPG in city, 25MPG outside city. Probably sth wrong with lambda and AF ratio – TO DO

14. Missing rear cat – TO DO

15. "Tighten Fuel Cap" message. Purge control solenoid change – TO DO

16. Bluetooth is not working – TO DO
The wheel switches do not react. The module might be disconnected.

17. CD player – TO DO
Strange thing. CD player was working. While setting wheel alignment auto was raised. The machine for raising shaked the car for a while. After that cd stopped playing. The tape and radio works. When I switch to cd it tries to read but there is no sound. When I switch back to radio or tape it starts to play but bumps come every 3-4 seconds. The bumps while playing radio or tape stop only when I turn off ignition for longer time.

18. Bulbs under some buttons – TO DO

19. Some missing interior parts – TO DO

20. A-spec body – TO DO
Parts are waiting for springtime

21. Remote window roll-up – TO DO
Really strange this functionality is missing… as well as RDS in radio J
Funny thing is it is really difficult to buy sth from dealers in US when you want to ship it to Europe. Antifraud procedures are to strict J

One question. Key lock in steering column. There should rubber or sth round it. It is marked as 5 on combination switch diagram but there is no part number. Are those parts available?

Cograts on your pick. First of all, tell me where are the Type-S rims huh? :P How many miles on the car? Lol I never noticed missing RDS in my car but I actually never turned it on. Not even once! I only listen to XM, CD and AUX FYI if you get XM it will show artist information Good luck on your To Do list!

I just wanted to say WOW there is no RDS in our car lol I took a better look at my radio and there is not RDS label.... What a shame! My 1996 Audi A6Quattro as well as 2001 A8L have it

This is winter set-up. I will thing about summer one in the spring. The millage is 115K.
The car is in Poland. Unfortunately there are no satellites transmitting XM on the sky in this side of globe.

I look carefully at part details and wow - you are right. Front right seat parts diagram lists only cushion heater. I am shocked again (like when I realized there is no rds on radio) - driver has heater in cushion and back whereas passenger only in cushion - really strange, I've never seen such approach.

 

Interesting you are from Poland not too many people know about the TL over there never mind about the type s.

 

Wow that is cool! It is really unique car in Poland since they don't carry Acuras unless its an import. How are you going to deal with maintenance?

 

Remote window roll-up does not exist from factory. You can only roll down with the remote.

 

There is about up to 5 pieces of TL-S here Standard TL is more popular

I know a little bit about car maintenance. I have my trusted garage specialized in hondas that took care about my previous car, that was also rare in Poland when I bought it. Some parts are the same as in honda. The rest would be supplied from US. To be honest buying staff in US and importing it to Poland is much cheaper than buying it from Polish dealers. Prices here are ridiculous - example: two rubber o-rings for Power Steering Pump cost at Acura dealer in US about 1$ - same o-rings at Honda dealer here in Poland are 10$.

I know that - that's why I'm gonna get additional stuff

Although when I'm looking at something that's cheaper than $20, I usually just buy it at the dealership anyway so I don't have to pay shipping and it comes in quickly.

Guys - Torque indicate problems with O2 Heater. Problem for me is that it indicates Bank 4 - Sensor 4. Only thing that comes on my mind is that Torque gives the following numbers of sensors and Bank 4 Sensor 4 means Bank 2 sensor 2 in Acura.
What do you thing about that?

I am preparing to have large parts order - it would be nice to have right sensor for replacement.

One more thing. Torque shows problems with O2 sensor while CEL does not come on. That makes me think previous owner might play with wiring and cheating ECU. Any advice how can I check it?

 

Pass seat does not have heat element up top to protect the air bag and sensors is the official reason Honda didn't put one up top in passenger seat. I don't know why driver's seat has lower and upper then...

Take your key and put it in the cylinder @ the steering clumn. Turn it two times forward without starting the car. Does the check engine light come on? If not, someone removed it or covered it so you won't see it.

 

looks like someone already removed the bulb for the CEL.

 

I wish I had mine Acura in Poland Well, since you live there and you have pretty dark tints, don't you have any problems with cops? I know that they are fu**ing assholes about that...

I would address the transmission issue asap. switches and fluid at a minimum

 

Sorry, I've put it in wrong words. My CEL works fine - it comes on when I turn the ignition on. I've meant that the CEL does not indicate any error while Torque Pro - each time I put it in diagnostic mode - show that O2 sensor does not meet voltage standard.
I know that one can cheat ECU with resistor or something - I am wondering what is the easiest way to check whether previous owner messed with it.


So far so good Nobody noticed since 2 months - even when police car was next to me. Probably it results from the fact that rear are much darker then front side ones.
On the other hand I have not been stopped for car check so far

It is on my list. I am going to visit my garage this week to have car checked for leakages. And next week I am ordering parts. Wish they would be here in the end of month.

1-12, 14-16, 18-20 done.
My mechanic recently said he tought I have changed the mechanic - I am rare visitor at his place.
