I have a 2006 TL with only 22,000 miles on it so it's under warranty and today will be the 4th time I'm dropping it off at the dealer for this problem. So far they have bent back the dust cover on my rotors, replaced the timing belt auto tensioner and the compressor belt (which I'm sure was big bucks) and last the replaced the inlet o-ring and I'm STILL getting the noise! I'm guessing next will be the replacement of the powering steering pump and/or the hoses.

STILL having problems

After my 4th trip to the dealer I had my ps pump replaced (they replaced the o-ring first) and it's still happening! Next they are going to replace the hose w/a heat resistant one since that's about to be recalled anyway but I'm thinking that may not solve it. Rack may be next.

Thumbs down I am disappointed...

I just purchased my 04 TL in July and at first, I was so excited, but now I am just disappointed. Had an issue with left axle seal and now, this morning, my car started to make a loud annoying noise. When I turned the wheel, it groaned! Took it to my mechanic and he said that it was the power steering pump and now after reading everyones threads, I can see that I am not the only one that has to deal with this problem.
I wish I would have kept my Accord. I thought I was upgrading, HA! I didn't upgrade, I just signed up to spend more time at my mechanic's shop!

mine has 58000 miles on it and just had this sound a week ago. After checking out this thread, I am pretty much certian it's related to the power steering becasue as I turn the sterring left and right, the sound became lounder. The sound will go away after the car has been warmed up. I got the O-ring from Honda instead of Acura because it's cheaper but it's still in black color not the red color metioned on the other post. I just replaced the O-ring 10 mins ago. Easy job, only took me 15 mins. Will test again tomorrow morning to see if the sound is still there.

I had exact same problem. -23 in toronto and making the same noise from the power steering pump, I did some research and found out that it could be the inlet joint bolt, the air enter the power steering pump from the inlet joint bolt, but when the engine is warm the symtons went away.

I replace both o-rings but the whining is still there. And the whining gets louder when I turn on the ac! Someone help me. I don't wanna pay over 100 to fix something that should be a recall. My car is salvage btw. I hate this noise

i fixed mine for 0.50$ O-ring. remove the the one bolt attached to your pump. there is an O-ring there. the ring is a linguiny flat type. the new one is a spaghetti type that seals better and dont' let the cold air freeze your oil that make that screaming noise when u start the car.

if i can find the tsb, i will repost

There is a recall in the 04-07 TL's about this.. I've been having the same problem and finally looked into it. This will tell you everything you need to know: http://www.aboutacura.com/2007/12/ts...e-is-cold.html

The O-Ring costs 75 cents at a local Honda/Acura dealership.

Also here is the TSB:
