first, the car has "drive by wire" so there is no mechanical connection from the pedal to the throttle.

seems odd, if jumping caused a short or somthing, it was fine till the next time you tried to drive it.

if in park or neutral, can you rev the engine by pushing the pedal?
can you hear it rev?
does the tach rev up?

in gear does it move at all? try forward & reverse?

so the car will move, just not much more than a crawl?
auto or manual transmission?
are you in the correct gear? as in "D" drive not in a manual mode on the automatic?

Shift the trans to "N" or "P" or if manual in nuetral, can you freely rev the engine, like at least up to 5?

....

It's a 1996. It is NOT drive by wire.

Rammi, you'll probably get better info and shared experience in the First Gen Forums.

Could be. Push the gas and you just go slow with out being able to gain speed.

oops, I was thinking 2006.

of course he posted in the 3rd generation forum.

1996 and it does not move, then just slowly walk away. probably cost more to fix than it is worth?

I'm going to go with transmission failure. His car is 11 years old so his warranty is gone, so I'm afraid he'll be looking to get it fixed or getting a new car.
