Why does my car stop while im driving? When i come to a point that i have to slow down to a stop or a redlight the egine cutts off.I'm also having problem starting it again and when i succeed, then egine is shaking and the idle is below the normal RPM operation. I have a Acura TL 04 6 speed manual.

 

I remember reading a post yesterday where someone encountered a similar problem and took it to a shop and they cleaned the EGR valve.
I have no clue where or what it looks like so hopefully someone can chime in and provide a better description.

I remove the EGR valve, clean it and replace it and i'm still having the same problem. Can somebody can tell me what could be the problem?

 

It probably your IACV... would the symptom be when you slow down like coming to a stop sign your RPM slowly drop till the engine shut off?? but if you constantly moving it function normal.. If this the case, clean your IACV.

Had the same problem before on my Odyssey van, it scare the hell out of me. I got kids in the car, cuz u loose all braking once the car die. Then I notice it only happen when coming to a stop, went home that nite and work on it right away. Good as new since.

 

what is IACV i'm not very good in mecanic.

 

Yestarday i did a compression test on the 6 clyinder and i have 4 cylinders with 180 to 200 psi and i got the 2 first one in front of the car below 130psi. the shop that did that test told me that my motor is dying slowly. did anyone had this probleme i can't believe that a Tl 04 with 165 000km that the motor is ealready dead.i fogot a detail he changed all spark plugs and the car wnet good for 20 minutes and started goig bad and when i hit the car, there is bleu smoke coming out the mufflers. did anyone got this problem??

 

blue smoke = bad news. time to start looking for either a new engine to swap out or a new car.

 

Have you over-revved it? You probably bent a valve causing the loss in compression and over time it will wear out the valve guide and seals causing the oil out of the exhaust. If the smoke is worst at startup and idle it's probably the seals.

 

Seems like its mostly the manual TL's with the engine problems lately. Most likely due to the fact you can't overrev an auto..

 

the exact same thing happened in my 96 Camry - I replaced the spark plugs and it never happened again.

But again My car knowledge .. is not whats up..

 

okay thank you guys, i think i have no choice to do a swap.I have a tl 2004 dynamic package. I would like to know if it's bolt on if i swap a 3.5 2004??
