my 07 keyfob sitting at the bottom of the pool ugh!
So I was at the pool last night and stupid me forgot to take the key fob out of my pocket. Ended up finding it sitting at the bottom of the pool. It was probably there for a good 15 minutes. I have an 07 TL-S so its the newer flip key fob.
I let is dry out in the sun for a while until I left and it seems to work fine however something really weird happened when I started my car for the first time after it being in the pool. The car cranked for a long time before starting. And when it did start it stuttered for a couple seconds then ran normally. The car has never done this and has been perfect from day one.
Anyone have any idea as to why it did this? Could it have anything to do with the chip in the key. The car starts perfectly now and has not done that since.
Any ideas are appreciated.
P.S. I dissassembled the key fob and it looked like new still in there almost seems as if the electronics inside are somewhat water resistant.

Your a lucky dog the FOB still works. It was smart to let it dry out before trying it in the car. Like was mentioned, I'd just keep an eye on it. It's probably fine. Check your pockets next time.

the FOB has a rubber gasket on the button's. That reminds me I have to post the DIY on changing the battery!

You should now get an agent and try out for an Acura commercial. You never know, it could happen

It didn't really crank for very long, but it stuttered for a good few seconds.
Hasn't done it for a while now.

gee... stutter, extended crank... let me put it this way.. it is just a coincidence that you dropped ur key in the pool and suddenly your crap-worthless-good for nothing acura battery is dying...
everytime it rained I dropped #1 in a puddle, literally upto 5times a month... I"ve dropped it down a flight of stairs... hell I even dropped it in the toilet... luckily it was post flush.... so none of my peepee got on it ... the entire time I owned the car I only used keyfob #1... never had any problems starting the car, except for a nice 8degree day when my battery died
ps. you have another keyfob... try it with that one, bet you it will do the same as the wet one hahahaah

Actually the stutter you experienced on startup was a normal situation and a coincidence regarding the wet fob. If I remember the manual read correctly, occasionally the computer will "readjust" the fuel-air mixture for emissions purposes which may mean a periodic longer crank time. I've experienced it on both my 04 and 08 TL's. I wouldn't worry about it and it's good to know the fob can still work after getting wet (just in case)!

Been like 4 days since it sat at the bottom of the pool and it works perfectly.
