mufflers developed holes at the top

brobably about time
both mufflers have little volcanos at the top 2/3rds towards the front
didn't have a clue until i stuck my hands in there and felt them
i'm not even going to go into WHY i'm stick my hands in places like that
looking to replace them
i want something quiet, no tractor music for me
should i go stock, or is there more durable stuff out there?
also, is that a relatively DIY thing to swap them?
they parts look darn pricey as is, if i bring her to my dealer i'll have to leave at least an arm there
i see a lot of rust on the joints not sure if they'll detach peacefully
