Motor mounts/ECU/Tranny? no clue...
So i was driving last week around 60-70 mph and realized i needed to cut 3 lanes to take the exit.
I floored it and i was expecting the quick response to get over...instead my carjerked, rpm's increased to 5k and my car didnt move faster for few seconds and then it got in gear(automatic)...
it happens when i floor it, so i then tried tiptronic to see fi it was similar...
the rpm's cut off much lower than they used to a few weeks ago. I cant get the car to red line in 2nd gear...
when your in park i think you can press the accelerator and hit the limiter between 5-6k, when your driving in tip tronic you could go to 6500-7K+
im not sure if this is the transmission/malfunction in ECU or motor mounts?
The car itself drives fine under normal acceleration.
any ideas?

Transmission... the lag you felt is not a good sign.

Are you still under warranty? I was getting similar problems as my transmission was dying, but within minutes it completely died -- was like driving in neutral.
My car was a 2005 TL Auto w/Nav

luckily im at 42K and still have some time left...
got a call from the dealer, they said something is wrong, but they havent isolated it yet...
there aren't any check engine lights or anything so they will hopefully figure it out tomorrow.

If it won't hit the limiter in manual second gear and the first time it downshifted to 5,000 and just hung there without accelerating and without hitting the limiter it sounds more like an engine issue. The most common engine problem we got that was brought in for a transmission problem was a plugged exhaust. Either a convertor coming apart or they hit something and smashed it closed.
I think the exhaust would be an excellent place to start.
It's kind of scary with the lack of skills these days. I could see them replacing the trans and then scratching their heads when it does not fix the issue.

just got a call from the dealer...
turns out the car wasn't hitting VTEC and thats why it was cutting out at 5K rpm...
Some valve was malfunctioning...
they fixed the valve and its all set.

Glad you got it fixed and glad it wasn't the trans. I had no idea our cars would not hit redline if that valve did not function. I wonder if the "small" lobe is really so small it won't rev past 5,000rpm or if it's electronically limited when the valve malfunctions.

It was stuck?
Any hypothesis on the issue IHC? Glad everything is running smooth again OP!

I was thinking maybe the small lobe was so small it would not support power over 5,000rpm but isn't the stock crossover like 5,500? Maybe it dumps the extra fuel regardless of whether it makes the switch to the large cam.
