Mirror Tilts Down _AND_INWARD_ !!

The passenger side mirror of my 2005 Acura TL suddenly started tilting inward as well as down when the car is placed into reverse. I know the mirror should tilt down when the transmission is placed into reverse however I've never had it tilt inward before! The resulting position of the mirror makes it impossible to use as all I'm only able to see is the door of the car!

I tried adjusting mirror position then saving it with the driver memory function "Memo 1". It appears settings cannot be saved with the vehicle in reverse as the "beep" I normally hear when settings are saved is absent and the mirror settings are not saved.

The drivers side mirror works fine; when the option switch is placed in the "L" position and the transmission placed into reverse, the left mirror only tilts down as it should.

I've been driving the car for five years and during that time have become very dependent on right side mirror tilt. How can I fix this issue?

i believe it is supposed to tilt inward as well. Mine does it too, and I use it to line up the body with the curb or parking space.

I seem to recall a small amount of inward tilt. As a matter of fact the drivers side mirror does tilt in just a hair. Unfortunately the passenger side mirror tilts so far inward that I can't see the rear of the car. All I see is the drivers side door handle!

While the car was in for it's B Service last week I had my Acura Dealer check on the cause of this issue. Turns out the actuator was defective. Rather than pay the dealer for its replacement, I purchased the part then replaced it myself. I'm pleased to say that all is working well now.

Is it hard to replace? Both of mine are broken. Sometimes, when I'm on the freeway, they'll both turn down and in to the door handles, and then do this weird thing where they keep trying to go farther and bounce back over and over.
