Memory seat issues

2006 TL Navi with 83k on it. Have an issue that when I unlock the doors and open the drivers side, the seatback reclines all the way back to the back seat unless I stop it. The memory seats do not work either and the dealer told me to replace the mirror actuators...for almost $500...I passed on that and may try that myself, but was hoping someone may have a fix for the 'auto recline' or is there a way to disable this (one person drives the car 95% of the time so the memory seat issues isn't a big deal right now)

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

It sounds like your seat memory just needs to be re-set if it is reclining only after you open the door-- maybe someone set the seat to recline all the way down (dealer tech?).
Reset the driver's seat and outside mirrors per the DPMS, then unlink and link your remote to see if your problem is resolved.

Sorry for riding the short bus here, but DPMS is? And any Cliff's notes on unlinking and linking the remote?

DPMS = Driving Position Memory System, p. 101 of the owner's manual. If you don't have the owner's manual, you can access the on-line owner's and Navi manuals by registering onto: http://owners.acura.com/.

Adjust your seat into the proper position and set the memory for that position using the seat memory buttons on the door.

Each linked remote will set the driver's seat, outside mirror, audio station and climate control preferences associated with that remote, so remote 1 and remote 2 could have completely different settings if you and the spouse or SO share the car, but are different physical sizes and have different tastes in music and climate control settings.

Unlinking & linking remote per manual:
"Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at
the same time. The LED in the
remote transmitter will blink twice.
Then release the buttons. Doing this
also cancels the keyless memory
settings for that remote and restores
the default settings.

To turn it back on, repeat this
procedure. The LED will come on
for 1 second to indicate the feature
has been turned on."

Thanks! I actually got some progress last night by holding all three memory buttons, turning the ignition on and then setting #2 correctly. Couldn't get #1 to set, but that's ok for my problem. Now the seat only 'auto reclines' with #1 remote, #2 keeps it the same. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this gets me by. Thanks for the advice and explanations, I'll keep these for the future.

1> reset/reprogram the memory seats
2> check the memory seat related fuses

does this happen with both driver 1 and 2 ?

I can't post the owner's manual DPMS pages, but see if this troubleshooting post helps: https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...34&postcount=8

It sounds like OP now has Driver 2 set properly, but not Driver 1.

I wonder if a mechanic or audio/alarm installer cranked OP's seat back to get better access to the console and accidentally set the seat memory position.

Sorry for no replies in forever, been away on some business. My 'fix' was not a fix after all, still have auto recline when I open the driver's door after unlocking via remote. I will go back to the suggestions and troubleshooting today.
Question though, if I unlink the remote successfully, will the seat just stay where I last left it? That'd be the cheap/easy solution for me. Or, by unlinking, will it not work to unlock the doors.

Thanks for the input guys, it's good to know there are people here who try to help.

My daughter was behind it once when it started to go back and she freaked out. She didn't get in before me again...

Unlinking the remote will not affect its ability to open the doors.

However, the audio, climate control, exterior mirror and driver's seat settings will not change to a set preference if you use an unlinked remote.

Let us know if you are able to reset the seat preference for Driver 1.

Thanks! I'm going to try it tonight, 1st time I've had time to look at it. It won't bother me if all the settings stay the same, I'm the only one driving it now. Wife has a new ride so it shouldn't be a big deal. I'll let you know how it goes.
