MDX Spacer Problems

Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted and I know I'm a little late to doing this mod but I've read through the various threads and haven't figured out a solution to my problem.

I originally bought the studs / spacer / 105mm bolts. So since my cars been at the body shop lately, I've been working on it slowly here and there. I installed the spacer and it was too thick with 2 p2r thermal gaskets. I had issues closing my hood. Fast forward to today, I had the spacer milled to 1'' total thickness. Running both thermal gaskets my hood closes, but hits the cloth hood lining. Now that wasn't a huge issue with me, but the bolts are way too long now and they don't torque the manifold down properly.

Now which options do I have here? I don't mind milling the spacer a little more to ensure my hood closing properly (without running washers). I don't know which bolts I should get now and I really don't want to tear the manifold off again only to be disappointed again . Let me know your opinions. Thanks

aww, you should have just cut out a little notch in the hood support.

in for answers.

I should have, but it seemed like I would have had to extend the hoses and wires. All the threads made it seem so easy, and I was piecing together parts from various threads lol. Didn't work out so well haha. I had it milled down to an inch cause I read on some thread that paul had done the same with success. I'll probably mill it down further and try to reuse the stock bolts? For some reason I don't think that will work either.

Many users have had theirs milled down with success. Im sure someone can chime in. However much you took off the thickness of the spacer, just purchase shorter bolts (decrease your bolt length by that much)

And if not, I have a unmilled MDX spacer for sale and then you can just cut your hood brace. That's what I did without any issues. Selling my car so I removed everything that was aftermarket.

You should be able to find shorter bolts at ACE Hardware.

I have the full size MDX Spacer installed with OEM gaskets. I removed the hood liner and just cut out the hood support. I opted to not use the P2R gaskets cause it would make the manifold higher, causing more problems since I'm using the full size spacer.

cutting the hood brace is the easiest thing to do without getting new hardware.

Yeah I'm running full size spacer, Oem gaskets, removed the hood liner and modded the hood support and it has been fine for me.
