map light bezel broken
map light bezel broken
This is kind of long........Sorry.
Hi all. The wife drives an '04 TL which we have owned since December '03.
I drive the car about once a month. This past weekend while we were in it I noticed that the bezel surrounding the map lights and sun roof switch was hanging down about 1/4" from the ceiling. I asked her how long it has been like that and she said she never noticed it. Well as we drive around the rest of the day it is starting to fall more and more. Eventually it is down about 1". That night it actually fell off an was hanging by the three wire harness' for the parts inside it. I end up disconnecting it and place it in the trunck. Examination of thge bezel shows that the screws used to hold it in place actually crushed the plastic tabs, therefore weakening the surrounding plastic. The area crushed was actually still in place under the scres.
She took it to our wonderful local Acura stealership yesterday and they stated that since I disconnected it, they would not replace it under warranty and that we would be responsible for the part and install cost. Also, they have never seen this before.
Acura ended up paying for the repair out of good will not the warranty claim.
Have any of you experienced this with your cars?
