Manual Shifting Sticky
Manual Shifting Sticky
2006 with 250K miles on it... this car had problems going from 2nd to 3rd from the get go -- that was remedied with GM Syncromesh so that I never bothered asking for warranty service based on the Safety Bulletin.
A few years ago, the clutch was losing pressure and had to be pumped to work properly -- local trusted mechanics switched out the clutch drum and slave, which helped, but stickiness from 2nd to 3rd returned.
Now, the car isn't driven much anymore, but the shifter is sticky again in all gears. I typically leave it in 1st when I park and it's hard to get out on starting (unless you pump/double clutch) and then the rest of the shifting is rough. Took it into the shop again and they convinced me to replace both clutch drums again, but it's no better and now I'm out $600.
Maybe the clutch is finally shot and needs to be retired, but my main question is what people are using instead of GM Syncromesh now that it's not available anymore (right?). Is the AC Delco stuff basically the same?
I read the Honda MTF Advance Formula is as good or better -- unclear to me if that's different than "regular" Honda MTF. I need to check with the shop to see if that's what they used.

The AC Delco stuff is exactly the same, just repackaged under a different brand name. Just make sure the words FRICTION MODIFIED are on the bottle.
You might want to check the shift pedal assembly as the metal at its base where it mounts might be torn. That's what turned out to my recent shifting problem
