Lower passenger ball joint

So the lower ball joint on the passenger side literally just broke. Are they hard to replace? I'm a former technician so I have all the tools and know how just wondering if there is anything to look out for or anything that makes it a pain in the butt.

Well... you know that it's pressed in into the knuckle, right?

Never did one on TL, but that should be the process.

and even then im promise it'll give you problems.. i attempted to remove the ball joints off the LCA a few months back.. borrowed the ball joint press kit from autozone just to find out EVERY single cup they had didnt fit either side to press the ball joint out.. you would need to either look for another ball joint press kit other than auto zones or you can buy the honda oem press kit although it is pretty pricey

I ended up just going to a independent shop and got it pressed out for like $20

Done

Got it done. Was fairly easy and straight forward. The abs speed sensor broke of course but just drilled it out and replaced with new one. O'Reilly has the Honda specific cups to rent. $120 but you get the depoade back so it's not a big deal. ABS sensor was kind of pricy... They must break on that side a lot. It was double the price of all the other ones.

^^^You couldn't disconnect the ABS wiring in the engine compartment?

How many miles on the LBJ? Did it break while you were driving?

Honestly I did not think about disconnecting it inside the cab. that lower ball joint has been replaced before so it really didn't have that many miles on it I'm assuming the shop who did it before used a cheap part. Yes it did happen while I was driving but just in a parking lot so thank God I wasn't on the freeway
