First of all, I know I am going to be due for a clutch replacement sooner rather than later. It's sitting at 173k on the original.

I don't seem to be experiencing any over-revving of the engine at this time. However the past few days it's been warm and I've been driving with the windows down and noticed a sort of clicking noise when starting from a standstill in first gear. It's especially pronounced when you bog the engine down a little before pulling away.

Is this the clutch telling me it's time to go or is it something else? I can try and get a video tomorrow, but I don't know if it will be loud enough to pick up.

There's also a vibration that I've noticed only between 3k-3.5k RPMs, especially in 2nd gear. Anything above or below that RPM range is fine. Motor mounts or just more clutch slipping?

 

Noise in first, short shift into second, no noise, first gear problem.
Try starting in second any noise?
General Tests:
Check boots for any damage.
Do some figure "8's" to see if any noise-outer CV joints.
Vibration accelerating at speed inner CV joints.
Vibrations can also come from engine/trans mounts.

 

TL clutch is self adjusting so one day it simply wont work. It doesn't really give a sign of wearing or failure until it happens.

 

I wasn't able to replicate the noise in first or second gear today. I will try again later when it will be colder.
