I have an 04 TL with 92,000 miles on it. The last 2 years it has mostly been sitting and not getting driven too much. Now that we are driving it a lot again, the car seems a lot louder than I remember. At first I thought it was a noise from the exhaust but it sounds like the noise is coming from right underneath where the driver sits. When you are going uphill at 70mph or accelerating is when it seems the loudest. It is a loud moan noise. The car will be in 5th going up a large hill and if you give it more gas causing a downshift the noise is quieter in a lower gear even though the engine is now reving higher?? Any idea if this a torgue converter/tranny going bad or is the car just louder than I remember?
