loud bang while excelerating hard

anyone experience a very loud bang wile excelerating??? this happens to me once in a blue moon (4 times so far in a yr.) wile flooring it to excelerate quickly, it sounds like its comeing from the front driver wheel. At first it was so loud i thaught it was my axel snaping or somehting. It sounded like it was a metal object. This was no squeek or a sound that built up wile excelerating just BANG haha any ideas?

second problem, i notice that when at speeds above 45ish if i hit a bump the car feels like it slides side to side for a sec. this is even worse with 3 passengers. i know its the suspension but the question is will the extended care waranty i baught from Acura cover this suspension or is it considered a wear item like tires and will not be covered

Possibly rear wheel toe misalignment if there is no actual loss of traction, but the car suddenly feels like it is unstable or oscillating for a second-- probably not covered under warranty for OEM suspension, and definitely not covered if the TL is lowered.

There is a TSB for bad rear bump stops as well, but IDK if that applies to the '05 TL as well as the '04s.

I experienced this same problem a few times (05 TL Auto w/nav). I thought it was the transmission. Now my transmission just died this past Wednesday at 80k miles, needs total replacement. Be careful.

If you lose your transmission and you're out of warranty, see if you can get goodwill. Mention you've heard this is a problem with this model of TLs.

By the way, my car just came back today. Transmission works so well, I can't even feel when it shifts gears anymore. So far, so good.

The bump issue is not transmission related.

The bang is a brief backfire through the intake more noticable when you have a CAI but I hear it about once a year with my stock intake. In fact it just did it for the second time this year two days ago. It's normal, there were a lot of threads on this back when these cars were new.

Mark, thank you lol After reading through the posts, as I have had this happen at WOT, I was getting scared my tranny was But now I am absolutely relieved to hear that it is nothing major! It's happened only once when I went out to pass a semi in a 55mph. You are a damn genius! But what causes it?

I would have worn a nametag that said M@. For the reasons below:

  1. Create general confusion.
  2. It's obvious to them that your name isn't Mark.
  3. I'm sure someone will actually try to pronounce your name as "Mah"

There's always this year's huge Acurafest with 200 board members. I wore my real name and my screen name last year. This year I may do just as you said. That would be more fun. Also, I wouldn't have to worry about ducking everytime someone introduced themselves if they didn't know my screen name lol.

Yep. Central Cal (Fresno at a resort) It's in the regions section. Should be a minimum of 200 cars, all kinds of neat stuff. Are you close enough to drive?

Off topic but would you mind checking out a thread I started in the 3G section trying to post a video? I did a quick run in a 700hp Brabus Mercedes but I can't post the vid.
