Lost electrical power. Nav trip reset

Anyone have issues with the vehicle losing electrical power?
First case is the Nav resets and asks for Nav code and the trip resets all others memories are ok.

Second case just happened today as I shut the car off at the gas station it lost all electrical power no lights nothing but came back on in a few seconds. Any input would be helpful.

Since its cold an Acura tech told me the Nav unit could glitch out in the trunk but today it lost all power and asked for the radio code also which didn't happen the prior times.

Most likely answers, which would cover about 98% of the potential causes for your TL's loss of electrical power:
1) The battery is on its last legs-- replace it if it's more than 4 years old.
2) The battery clamps are loose-- check the negative one in particular.
3) The battery cables are corroded.
4) Combination of all of the above.

Eliminate each of those 4 potential issues first.

G/L.

I've been experiencing this quite often, and it started right when the weather started getting really cold.

I would be driving normally, then a total power loss for 0.5sec. All the lights in my dash up and things are normal. It asks for the radio code every time. From looking around, people were suggesting some Accelerator sensor, but I don't want to go and buy the part if it could be something else. It only happens when I'm driving. Thankfully I've always gotten power back within 1sec, but I do want to diagnose it.

I could readjust the battery terminals and clean it out with some solution? It's a motomaster battery that has warranty so maybe I should just bring it back, and they can test it etc and give me a replacement.

How can I determine if it could be the battery or the acc sensor? It's really cold out so if I can avoid taking my battery out, that'll help

Multimeter to test battery. Should be at 12V+ off. With engine on and a working alternator, should be a little over 14V. Best is to get it load tested at a parts store (usually free, but I heard in Canada it may not be..?)

Make sure you take off clamps off the terminals and clean with a wire brush until the terminals and posts are shiny.

it could be a faulty ignition switch as that is what provides power to the whole car!

Jiggle the key in the ignition slot and see if it produces the "lost power".

If not, then check the cables to the battery and see if they are loose. If they aren't clean them with a brush and also the terminals on the battery. Follow the cables and make sure that they are tightly secured wherever they go!

Thanks guys! Yea I can test it for free at parts stores too, so I was gonna bring it to the shop where I bought it, as its under warranty. But it's too cold to be messing under the hood right now.

I'll try that ignition trick too, but if it was that, why would it ask for the radio code every time?

And what about the Acc sensor that's prevalent here, could it be that? How can I eliminate that? Would it also ask for the radio code?

Pour some hot water on the battery leads. Corrosion can build up between the battery posts (rare on TL since it is covered, but you never know) and still remain tight.

There isn't any corrosion. I cleaned the terminals a bit after disconnecting the battery. I then installed the cables more lower. They were kinda sticking up a bit, so maybe it didn't have 100% contact, not sure if that matters too much. It's been stable so far, but I'll need to test it out for a few more days. My car is getting fixed due to an accident I had earlier so I'll have to wait!
