Loss of Fob Range after Puddlelight Install

May get moved to the Problem & Fixes section but it'll get more hits here.

I just installed eight 1-Watt puddlelights and tied them into the courtesy lights via an in-line 15 AMP fuse. Lights work perfectly when I unlock the doors but I have to stand directly next to the car when the lights are on for the keyfob to function. If I'm more than 3 ft away, the TL doesn't respond to anything. And after 30 seconds w/o opening the doors, the car re-locks itself, lights go out, and the fob works at normal range again. It's almost as if the RF receiver loses range reception power while they're on but it's only a total of 8 watts so I'm stumped. Anyone know what the problem may be? Throw a relay in the mix or something?

Assuming I have your orientation & setup correct, you should tap a relay from courtesy lights to the main source then lead that to the puddle lights, that way the puddle lights aren't draining power from the RF receiver. Both the RF receiver for the keyless entry system & the courtesy lights run on that line. The 15A inline fuse you have is useless since you already tapped a line that has a 7.5A fuse (fuse #6). So get a relay, tap the courtesy line into the relay input but use the source to the relay from a main line. If your turn on you rear MAP lights then try to use the fob with puddle lights on, I bet it wont respond at all.. Check the condition of the battery as well.
