Loose sounding/slapping suspension?
Loose sounding/slapping suspension?
I have a 2007 TL Base model. The struts were already replaced once due to a knocking kind of noise that sounded like it was either coming from the trunk or the rear deck behind the back seat.
Since the warmer weather has arrived, I've been driving around with window down and when the car goes over bumps at around 20 to 35 miles per hour, I hear this loud slapping/cluncking kind of sound like something in the suspension is loose or possible the springs slapping back against the frame. It's not a very pleasing sound - like the new struts aren't firm enough for the springs. Anybody experience somthing like this lately. I've had the car 5 months and it has about 4700 miles on it.
P.S. I know there are strut problems with some of the TLS trims, but is this what you guys are are also referring to and not the just the knocking sound I had experienced earlier?

Hi JRTech,
Just a thought, could it be your exhaust system? The pipes or mufflers could be hitting the frame.
Maybe when they serviced your suspension, they might have knocked off one of the rubber exhaust hangers.
Just a thought....
