License plate LEDs burning out

Does anybody have these type of LEDs?

I am using these for my license plate lights and this has been the second set I had gone through that burned out. It seems that these particular ones are running really hot. So hot that the soldering of one of the led melted off the entire wedge as you can see in the 3rd picture.

I initially purchased the T13-x6 LED Wedge Base Bulbs for my interior and those lights have been working great. Then I went with these for my license plate lights, because they are much brighter. However, I'm not sure if these are burning out because the license plate lights are on all the time or because they just plain suck? Has anybody had any bad experiences with these type of LEDs?

you probably jammed them against the lens cover when you put the plastic holder back.

you know you don't have much room to play with with those LEDs, gotta be careful when you install them.

I am using these for my license plate for the last 3 months now and no burn outs yet. The first set of 194s I bought from autolumination I had one burn out in a few weeks so I switched em out for the V-LEDs. Now one of the LED's I put in my doors has burnt out already too

yeah i have no luck with LED bulbs either. its either because of the change in voltages when the car is on (decreasing life drastically) or some type of vibration flaw. but either way, all of mine seem to flicker out and then die back in the day when i used to have a camry, to now with the TL (talking about my rear license plate light). got tired of it.

solution: cathode DIY lol =P

Slayer, the LEDs that burnt out were bought from V-LEDs. The ones I got from superbrightleds.com for my interior still works like a champ, but I might go with that luxer brand, looks awesomely bright.

Mine have been flickering lately so I pulled them out and guessed it's because of the nature of how those prongs on the bottom are set up. Vibrations from the car work them out of a good connection pretty easily. I took a tiny strip of electrical tape and wrapped it around underneath where the prongs are and it keeps them popped out a bit so that the bulb fits better. It seems to work so far.

i've had two sets burn out for the license plate within a month each time, both sets from autolumination/superlumination. Same lights in the interior lights have been fine. Autolumination/superlumination has no real warranty, so i just replaced them with some from superbrightleds who have a year warranty.... we'll see.

I've had 3 flicker then die from tec-toys (old school) and SuperBrightleds. It's irritating as hell because you have to remove like 15 fasteners on covering inside the trunk to get at it. *sigh. the flickering looks gangster as hell, and I'm too lazy to change them again. Anybody recommend better brighter one for the plates, more of a lexus IS look?

It is a bit hard to find the ones that 664 (code for "attempt to commit..?) got. I can't find them online and they have not responded to email as to where to find them. I think some TLers who live in SoCal got them at some local store. BRM21.com shows them to b in Huntington Beach, CA. It would be great if we can get them online.
