Question LED Rocker Switch Wiring help please/thank you!

Ok, so rather than run led ambient lighting to the footwells on their own, I opted to put in usable led switches for things.

Driver side is a cut off for remote wire to amp in trunk.

Passenger side I wired up to used as my tailgater switch. I've got it all wired up and it works just fine...mirror even drops down as if going into reverse (don't need but ok). Now, the LED only lights up when I turn the reverse lights ON and I'd like to invert that since I'll pretty much NEVER be driving around with my reverse lights on and I'd like the LED on. SO:

1) How do I reverse the function of the rocker switch? It has GROUND/LOAD/12V on it. I've swapped the Load and 12V and it works the same. Still only lights the LED when the reverse lights are one. I tried moving the ground and burnt a fuse.

2) 2nd Alternative I'd use is to just have the LED on whenever car is on. Which would be fine for me.

Any help from you wiring experts out there, would be greatly appreciated!

Wire the ground to the 12v constant? will that light up the LED at all times? How can I make it so the LED will either stay on all the time or come on when the reverse lights are turned OFF (instead of ON?).

I wish I knew more about wiring.

How about wiring the LED + to the parking lights circuit? That would at least illuminate when you have the lights on.

EDIT:
Meh, was looking at this: http://www.oznium.com/rocker-switch/tech. Is this switch similar to what you have?
Not sure if my idea is even relevant.

Thanks for the response Dave...yeah, that's actually the exact switch. I think the only problem with hitting them with the parkling light source is it won't trigger the ability to use the switch to kick on the tailgater switch unless I have the parking lights on. I'm thinking I can maybe try and open up the switch and see if I can run the ground wire on the other side of the switch to the led terminal directly so it's not dependent on switch position. We'll see.

Thanks for getting me more info though!

Ok, figured it out the old fashioned way. Opened up the switch itself and figured out how it works. Going to take the LED out of the switch and ground it and run juice from the parking light wire so the LED's will come on with parking light only and will be on separate from the switch. Should have probably gone the simpler route anyway.

Ok...so snapped off the ground lead from the LED. Oh well, at least the switch still works. Ordered 3 different sets of led's for the footwells, will end up rewiring them to a switch of their own and will light the rear footwells too and MAYBE some ambient lighting for the rear seats.
