Leather seats melting

I have had problem with the buttprints for quite sometime now but not that bad to take it in for a replacement yet but today something really bothers me. I was examine the seats and look like a section about 4 inches in diameter the leather has been deteriate or melting looking, cant even see the hole in the seats anymore..black leather...i'll put some pic later but it looks like the leather shredding into threads..weird..ahh

Do you treat them? I definatly would recomend putting that leather treatment stuff on regularly, will extend the life and quality. We dont have a TL yet but we use it on our furnitiure, always looks new

yeah

I condition them regularly with lexol. I think that is part of the problem. Maybe the last time i put it on. I put an excessive amount which cause the leather to be too soft with cause damage when i sit on it. It look like wet paper been rub off or smear off . I dont think the heated seats melting the leather because I never use it much. I think someone here had the same problem a while ago/.

Does treating or adding Lexol to the seats stain your clothes? That's my one big concern...

When I had the leather replaced on my '04TL because of the "buttprint" issue, I looked at the leather on the new and old seats. I was quite shocked to find that the "leather" part of the cover was so thin it resembled the skin on an onion. They have this thin veneer of leather glued to some type of vinyl material and that's what you are sitting on. On the new '05 cover, the leather sandwitch is backed by a thicker padding. With leather so thin, almost anything can damage that thin skin of leather. I've always used some type of leather treatment religiously, but I still got the buttprints no matter what I did. I haven't seen anything that resembled "melting" but it could just be the leather deterioating.

i have an appoiment tomorrow to bring it in

welll guess what.. i closely examine the passenger seat since i thought there is no way in hell that could happen since i almost never had anyone sit in there but i was wrong..there is also sign of melting on the passenger seat..very small though.. have to be real close to see it

My spot is right in the middle of the seats back bottom piece where my ass crach is located...something is weird though...i've been noticing the seats a little warmer than usually..and the seat heater is not on. i am not sure if this is the cause of just the summer heat

damn...acura

just got my seats swapped

05 seat covers, pads and heaters. The driver seats turn out decent but the passenger is a little wrinkly on the side bolster. Dealer insist that it gonna be straighten out after a few days.. at least the center piece are flush. Also had the damper TSB put in and i think it helps the vibration a little bit but not completely. Still a slight vibration. I will scan the invoice for everyone who wants one later cause i left it over at my parents place

Here is one Invoice I'd received from the forum member back in Feb. I tried with this one with Pleasonton Acura and was told to talk to regional manager and they'll not do it without the authorization from Acura. But is someone can, all the best.

Someone here started hearing voices from their seats resembling the wicked witch of the West.

first it was the driver seats now

it is melting on the arm rest...smearing real bad...seems like threads (top layer) of the leather shredding...damn acura quality...

The 05 seats are a whole world better than 04. No butt prints at all. Even though it didnt fit as tight it still look much better than buttprints

cheap leather in the TL

First it was the front seats. Then it was the arm rest. Now it is the back seats. After a road trip about 3 hours each way I discovered many spots of leather pinched through by the button on the jeans on the person in the back of my car. I dont think the buttons had anything to do with it just the fact that the leather is too sensitive anything can damage it... I am still waiting for the dealer to order the arm rest when that come in i am gonna complain about the rear seats too
