Keyless/Alarm Issue - 06 TL

I wanted to put a heads up out there and add to the results you find when searching threads.

A few days ago I started having a minor, very annoying issue....

- EVERY TIME the driver's door was shut the alarm would arm
- EVERY TIME the driver's door was shut with the car running it would lock
- None of the Keyless MID settings worked
- When unlocking the car the headlights and interior lights would stay off.
- FOB would only unlock the driver's door no matter how many times you pressed the button.
- FOB 2 did all of the above.

Things I thought of and tested myself.....

- Battery voltage after it sits for the entire night...12.65 (IMO 12.75 is perfect)
- Alternator output with full load (headlights, blower on hi, A/C on)...14.2
- Pulled negative cable
- Changed FOB batteries

I then searched on here a bit and found quite a few threads with similar problems but they were mostly for the TSX.

So I stopped by the dealer and Kevin, who's a member here (NBP TL-S) and a master tech at Jones Acura...hell of a guy, he's worked on my car several times now and I thank him every time because he doesn't leave so much as a fingerprint on the car, he explained to me that the TSX's have a common issue matching mine and the problem is a bad driver's door lock actuator.

I had them do an electrical diagnosis (99.95), the lock actuator was to blame just as they suspected. I walked out a happy camper and $155 lighter...not too bad, I hate troubleshooting electrical things.

Anyhow, just wanted to give a heads up.

Comments welcome.

Thanks! Hoping it will assist someone in the future.

I wish I would've been thinking, I would've had them replace light bulbs in the door panel. Wouldn't ya know it my "1" bulb is burnt out now in the memory switch. Damn disturbing old bulbs. lol

Aaron, some of the guys may be coming to my place next Sunday. Bring her down and we can take care of those pesky bulbs for you!

That'd be awesome man, I'd really appreciate the help of someone that has taken the door panel off before....I realize it is a pretty straight forward task but I'm paranoid about clips, etc. breaking.

I'll order in the bulbs and have them by the weekend so that when the time comes we're good to go. I'll get a hold of you closer to next Sunday and see what's going on.

No problem.
Review this thread for more info on removing the door panels---its one of the best DIY threads I've used for the doors.
