Crazy high speed vibration problems! HELP ME!
Crazy high speed vibration problems! HELP ME!
Hey guys,
2006 Acura Tl (5AT) 90k miles
So I went on a short road trip the other day and traveled about 250 miles. I travel at speeds greater than 80 mph the entire trip. I'm getting intermittent shaking at anything beyond 80 mph and it gets worse and worse as the speed increases. My car feels like it's hopping and wants to blast off. I can feel it in the steering wheel and the seats!
Any help or advice would be great. The tires are only a few months old btw. I recently purchased the car from an acura dealer.
Thanks!

Probably tire balance. Get 'em checked. And get them Road Force Balanced if you can (it's a different kind of machine/process). Also check for a bent wheel and last, but not least, double check that the lugs are all properly tight (80 lb-ft) - just in case.
I got them road force balanced 2 times and they said everything is good. No bent rim or anything. I went back and and made sure they were all at 80 lb-ft yesterday. I'm lost as to what to do about this. My tie rods seem nice and tight. No play in any of the suspension components. The fact that this is an intermittent issue is strange to me. It's almost as though when something gets warmed up its creating an issue.
I went to the same company but different locations. Shocks could definitely be a problem. My plan is to replace both axles, new shocks w/ springs, xlr8 mounts, and new rotors all the way around.

I have this same problem. mine starts around 75mph tho. new tires took a lot of the shake away. but there is still shake. only thing i''ve found is that on both of my front rotors, the top caliper bracket slide is stuck, when it should float back and forth. not sure if thats why it shakes or not but Im 95% sure thats why my car shakes when hitting the brakes. I have brand new rotors and pads. Maybe check it out?
I also have this problem 2004 acura tl 190k miles on her and no problems through 7 or 8 sets of tires and now this set is giving me a shake like you said... it started at only high speeds and now its all thru low and high speeds.. im thinking its possibly a busted belt in a tire common issue with low pro 17 inch tires.Ive checked tire pressure and that helped a bit had 2 low didnt evin notice. But its still shaken bad.
