Key Help - Trunk Popping & MID Customization

I search and continuously got the instructions to program the remote - which I did already.

I bought a pair of the keys on ebay where the remote is in the key. I got them cut and programmed to start the car. Then, I programmed them to unlock the doors.

Problem - the MID says that they are not linked and the trunk popper will not work.

Is this just the nature of cheap keys? If so, then I am cool with it since I really only care if they drive the car, and they were cheap.

...or, do I need to do more than the program where you do it 4 times with the ignition switch and pushing the lock button?

To "link" it, you hold the unlock and lock button down.

As for your trunk:

Try out another remote and see if it opens.

Check to see if it opens via the button inside the car.

Also, remember to hold it for a couple seconds lol.
You have no idea how many people say "your trunk isn't opening" when you need to hold it down for a couple seconds.

One more thing - is the key/keyfob OEM?

First of all, are the keys OEM? There are a bunch of aftermarket keys on ebay that are switchblade or accord style and they don't work well with the memory stuff.

If it's OEM, hold the unlock and lock buttons for a few seconds and it'll link the remote to the memory setup for the car (not the same as programming steps). Also check your glovebox to see if the valet switch is on so the trunk doesn't open.

They are not OEM. The linking does not appear to work - I tried it with the key in the ignition and without. It is OK - I bought cheap keys knowing the risk. They do start the car and work the locks, so that is worth the savings to me.

Thanks anyway.
