Itermitent "BRAKE" with solid "VSA!" indicators

Hello everyone - my first post to the site but I've used the information here ever since buying my 2007 TL TypeS in 2010. I've finally run into a problem I couldn't already find an answer to on AcuraZine, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light.

Yesterday morning I noticed the red "BRAKE" indicator on as I was leaving the house. Checked the parking brake of course. Brake operation seemed normal. Lots of rain the last few days, so very wet roads but no large amounts of standing water.

Driving home that evening, VSA! indicator came on. Restarted the car which shut off the light for a few minutes but is now back on for good. "BRAKE" indicator is on about 90% of the time, but shuts off occasionally.

I've seen posts concerning the brake system mentioning switches in the brake and master cylinder. The intermittent "BRAKE" indicator suggests an electrical problem to me (maybe due to water?). But I haven't seen any reports of this combination of indicators as my ABS indicator is not on. Not sure if old brake fluid could do this as well though.

Some background:
1. Just had the oil changed today - shop said brake fluid needs to be replaced due to high copper content. Haven't heard of this test before, but I know the fluid is old.
2. LR brake caliper siezed up last year (replaced rotors myself last year when I fixed the dust shield contacting the rotor). Couldn't tell it was siezed until I wore down one of the two pads within 12 months as there wasn't a noticable difference in drag when turning the wheel by hand. Caliper replaced by local shop, but I don't think they replaced the fluid. Brakes worked great afterward.

Thanks for the help!

That happened to me. It's most likely a sensor in the master cylinder that has gone bad. they had to replace the master cylinder in my case. It was about $350.

it could be a loose wheel speed sensor wire or something of the nature. Get the code scanned and it'll help narrow down the issue.

if brake fluid is low, it could trigger "brake" on dash.

also, to clear up what the shop said; brake fluid is hygroscopic. which means it can absorb water from air.

rust can develop in the brake lines due to moisture.
