Intermittent weird smell from HVAC

Hey guys, recently been having a weird problem where sometimes especially when it's raining or humid/foggy outside I get a weird smell from the vents when the heat is on. It's almost like a smell you would get when the heater core is leaking but at the same time not entirely its hard to explain. The problem is intermittent and more pronounced when raining. Cabin air filter was replaced not too long ago. Can anyone point in the right direction to diagnose the issue?

Sor tof a musty smell? I get a smell like that in the rain too... In my mind it is dirt being washed down into the cabin air intake in front of the windshield, then being dried and becoming airborne once again.

Yea kind of like a musty smell. Should I check for any drains? Does anyone know where all the drains on the tl are located?

This is going to sound weird.. but put some kitty litter in a sock or two tie the ends off and put it under your seats. Needs to be the silica kitty litter, there is no smell to it. Or just buy straight up silica. Should help with the musty smell over time and also helps prevent foggy windows in the morning.... I have 4 socks of the stuff under my seats. True story

Your air conditioner is on or you have it set to auto or you have it set to front defog. Could be the mold on the evap and hoses.

I've seen some things about using lysol spray on the intake between your winshield and hood, and also spraying some foam stuff up through your drain under the car to help with these kinds of issues. I've never done it before so I have no idea if it works or not.

Yea I would try the cat liter technique but the smell is only there when heat is on and is also intermittent so not sure it would eliminate the issue.
