Interior lights wont stay at maximum brightness level.

I hope this hasnt been posted before...but I cant seem find the answer anywhere.
I recently bought a new key fob (memory 1) for 05 base TL auto and reprogrammed it to my car. The new key fob works great. The issue I am having is that every time I get in my car, my interior gauge lights are set to the minimum brightness and my NAV is in night mode. When I push the setup button on the console, my NAV says its set to "AUTO" but the screen stays in night mode. (This is during the middle of the day, with plenty of sunshine). I thought it had something to do with the memory, so I set everything exactly where I wanted it, seats, NAV, brightness levels, etc, and stored it into memory 1. But without fail, the next time I get in my car, the interior lights are once again all set to minimum brightness and the NAV goes back to night mode. Also, I noticed that when I went to turn on the heater after reprogramming the fob, the temperature was set to "low". Its almost as if I disconnected the battery and everything reset in my car (which I didnt). Im sure there is a simply solution but I cant seem to figure it out. This car is almost too smart for its own good

Any ideas on how I can get these settings to stay where I set them???

hold the lock and unlock button for a few seconds and relink the remote. The instructions are on the back of the remote
