Installed Lowering Springs. Clunk From Rear at Low Speeds

Installed tein s lowering springs. Everything went fine. Front is solid. The rears however while driving slow, clunk/pop. The car drives fine and rides great at higher speeds. Over bumps and everything. Its perfect. But while going slow it is when it happens. It seems like it will happen if the car turns and doesn't go over a bump either. It is happening at both sides or in the middle. It is not one side specific.

Today (two days after the install) I put it on a lift at my work and tightened down every bolt on the rear suspension. Everything. It is all tight and nothing is loose so I don't know where to go from here.

Maybe. I just took the backseat out and double checked the top nuts and they were tight. It kinda makes the sound when I push the car from side to side just now. Will have to have someone do that while I look under and try and see where its coming from.

Was anything else replaced? Did you do the install yourself? Did you use the OE struts or swap out complete used units?

Bad strut mounts?

I agree with Project, It sounds like you may have a bad shock. If you used stock shocks its very possible. Even if you didnt, I put brand new shocks and spring on my Accord and onw was blown out of the box.

Check you sway bar end links and bushings as well. Also once your car is on the ground again I would un tighten all the bolt and then re tighten. You will wear out bushings very fast otherwise.

Good point. Always a good point to check your parts before installation, even if they're new. Even more so if they are used.
Any more info OP?

Yeah I just installed springs onto the factory struts. Car has 112k miles but rode perfect before. I have kind-of pinpointed the sound to the drivers side rear of the vehicle so I will have to take a look at that in depth... I have installed springs onto struts on many different vehicles so this was nothing new to me. But then again anything can happen.

The thing you have to consider is your strut rod is now (if you did a 1.5" drop) 1.5" lower then it was before. I have seen many times where the stock shocks were fine prior to lowering and then they are bad right after. And maybe you never heard it before because you were never listening for anything. Happens all the time as well.

Needless to say it sounds like you may need a shock. (obviously replace in pairs).
