help and suggestions wanted. what's going on? TIA

06TL 5AT 90k. performed 90k service at 88k. ATF 2 x3 last week w/ 3rd 4th switch replacements. Up to now car was ok.

this am which was cold (68F); when coming to a stop sign (and every interaction afterwards) the car seems like it was going to stall and the idle was dipping low then shooting back to normal. then doing it again and again. The car has never before today gone below an idle of 0.8 RPM. (today RPM range 0.2 -1 at a full stop)

hopefully you can point me in a direction to troubleshoot before taking into the shop.

so far I have on the list ( IACV , bad newly replaced spark plugs, torque converter, bad gas recent 1/2 tank was chevron 91 instead of costco 91)

 

Did it throw any codes? I think it's your clogged EGR valve. Just unscrew the 2 screws holding it down and unplug the clips and clean them.

 

I think you have a good guess. After driving 5 miles it threw p0404. Egr range/performance. Sounds generic . Cleared the code and continued driving but the cel did come up yet with all these continued symptoms. Any more guesses?

 

Your first guess, the Idle Air Control Valve, is MOST likely the culprit. It's probably clogged. Clean it.

 

It can be an ignition coil. Mine had a similar symptom a few weeks ago. Whenever I'm at a stop, my car feels like its going to stall. However, when I'm speeding at 90-110 km/hr on the highway there will be shuddering. Hope this helps.

 

follow up to the thread. egr value had a dislodged carbon particle keeping it open. I cleaned it and let hope no more problems occur afterwards. I want to thank the community for their input and knowledge base. - Mod you can close out this thread.
